Thursdays - March 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th
5PM - 8PM
Instructor: Jolynn Santiago
Level: Mixed
Capacity: 4
This class explores cloisonné enameling through the making of a pendant. Cloisonné is a process in which thin wire is shaped and attached to a metal surface to create small compartments, which are then filled with powdered glass enamel and fired in a kiln. Through short, repeated firings, color builds gradually within the wire lines, creating a luminous surface.
A weekly format works best with the time-consuming nature of this process, allowing students to bring a single piece to completion.
Beginners are welcome and will be guided through each step. Students with prior enameling experience may use this opportunity to explore more complex designs or deepen their approach.
Each student will finish a wearable enamel pendant, fitted with a cotton cord.
When you register you will receive an automated email regarding safety and logistics.
