Velda’s chair is a sleek contemporary Windsor chair designed by Curtis Buchanan. In this five-day class students choose to make the arm chair or side chair design. Class starts with splitting spindles out of an Ash log, shaping them with the drawknife and bending them with steam. Over the course of the week we will drill, ream, and carve pine seats by hand. The final two days will be dedicated to joinery and assembly with hide glue. This hand tool heavy class is a great introduction to Windsor chairmaking. Turnings will be provided by the instructor, and demonstrated in class.
