Before ornaments became the familiar shapes we recognize today, people decorated winter trees and branches with small objects inspired by the things around them—fruit, nuts, flowers, hearts, stars, and handmade forms. In this class, students will create their own small enameled hanging knickknacks, drawing from these histories or from shapes, objects, and imagery that feel meaningful to them. Finished baubles can hang around the home, on a tree, or anywhere you'd like. Traditional holiday imagery is welcome, but not required. Beginners will be guided step by step, while returning students may work more independently and explore more complex enameled surfaces as time allows.
