V E R M O N T H A N D W O R K S is a multidisciplinary CRAFT and ART education studio in Charlotte, Vermont that offers classes in:
JEWELRY MAKING, ENAMELING, WOODWORKING, CHAIRMAKING, AND BASKET WEAVING.
The rural, intimate workshop is fifteen minutes south of Burlington. It sits on the remnants of an old dairy farm, which is being repurposed to cultivate basketry willow.
Despite the typically unquestioned pursuit of convenience, the term "handmade" conjures images of slow, contemplative work and is universally understood to denote value.
A society drenched in digital technology can leave little room for these tactile, creative experiences. Our mission is to provide a welcoming, relaxed learning environment that empowers people of all experience levels to realize their creative goals.
JEWELRY + ENAMEL
V E R M O N T H A N D W O R K S offers beginner, intermediate, and advanced classes as well as extended study opportunities in jewelry and enameling.
We emphasize thoughtful making, material exploration, and curiosity. Classes are rooted in traditional processes and shaped by Jolynn’s studio practice.
Woodworking + BASKETRY
Our WOODWORKING classes emphasize TRADITIONAL TOOLS + TECHNIQUES, including:
CHAIRMAKING, SPOON CARVING, AND PITCHFORK MAKING.
In addition to related crafts such as broom tying and basketry.
Classes range from a few hours to multi-week intensives. All classes welcome BEGINNERS, and all tools are provided.
THE BEGINNING
After several years developing a shared teaching space and building community around their shop in Charlotte, VT, Jolynn Santiago and Eric Cannizzaro combined their teaching practices and launched V E R M O N T H A N D W O R K S.
OUR TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
Whether you arrive with a clear creative idea or want to make something with your hands, you’re welcome here.
You don’t need experience, specific goals, or a background in art or craft—an interest and willingness to try are enough.
What you make becomes an expression of your individual character—shaped by attention, practice, and the discoveries you make along the way.
We don’t believe in failure; every attempt builds skill and expands possibility.
