Watch molten silver transform into a ring in real time. In this approachable and accessible casting class, participants place silver grain into a graphite mold and heat it until the grains melt together, an experience not found in traditional lost-wax casting classes. Once the ring is made, it is sized, textured, and polished with a hammer, allowing the surface to develop as students work. Even when working from the same molds, each ring reflects the individual experience of the person creating it. In other words, each ring will be unique with variations in texture, shape, width, and thickness. This class is open to beginners. Those with some experience can work with more independence and potentially make more than one ring.
