The University of Connecticut Checklist for Cultivars of Salix (2015) notes it was produced at the State University of New York in 1998 by crossing two other purpurea clones. “It was selected for high yield and deer resistance…suitable for bioenergy plantations, living s now fences, stream bank restoration, riparian buffers, and basketry.”
