Packing Twine and Streamco are the shortest purpurea varieties we grow, with many rods under 6’ long. Execptional growth habit in our fields and excellent workability. It is unique among the purpurea we grow in that it has reddish brown hues when dry. Our plants originated from Lakeshore Willows in Ontario.
Packing Twine is sold by several North American growers but the University of Connecticut Checklist for Cultivars of Salix (2015) has no reference to a cultivar of that name. Vermont Willow Nursery online catalog provides little information but does state it is from Ireland.
